OLD LINE ENTERTAINMENT: THE MUSIC PLATFORM REVIVED POST B

1. Business Summary

The name of the company is Old Line Entertainment A.K.A OLE Ent, a new form of entertainment services created and formed in the DMV region.  (OLE Ent) is a tri-service  promotions company that offers musical, visual, and creative works. Specifically, OLE Ent’s services include visual recordings and skits, musical promotions of artists, mobile application development, digital art, freelancing, etc.  OLE Ent is created by Marquoi J.Y Subah and co-ran by all of its affiliates.

                                            MARKETING DEPT

Due to its new startup, the marketing department along with its numerous outreach efforts are directed and run by Marquoi J Subah. Subah directs activities such as social media implementation, social media management, visual implementation, mobile application implementation, etc.  Aside from the marketing activities, Subah also leads the financial management of the marketing teams efforts  by maintaining the profit and income streams.  With more time and development, there should be more than 1 director leading OLE Ent’s efforts in all service departments.

LOCATIONS OF OPERATIONS

OLE Ent  is located in the D.M.V region. The main location is in College Park MD.  Because most of the services will be operated online, there won’t be too many physical locations.  Hopefully, as the promotions company grows bigger, there will be enough funds for OLE Ent to branch out and establish physical locations in other parts of MD. Some notable places that would be good for business include Wheaton MD, Washington DC, Columbia MD, Annapolis MD, etc. With each location, a certain director of OLE Ent would be assigned to overlook the daily operations of the business.

                               MISSION N VISION STATEMENT

"Our mission is to project a new form of entertainment services from the DMV on a global scale.” Our vision is “To create a new platform of entertainment services from a region of the world where there is little to no recognition.”  The types of entertainment projected through BE Ent includes musical works from young artists, visual works from visual engineers, mobile applications from tech engineers, advertisement work from media marketers, etc.

STRENGTHS --

All productions are kept within the family/friends social circle.  The artists are fully aware of all operational managers as well as the director of Marketing Efforts.  Other strengths include the magnitude of the musical creation among the artists, visual innovators, app engineers, media marketers, etc.  The owner of OLE Ent’s management is very flexible, creative, and strategic. The amount of creativity along with the raw talent from individuals of each sector creates a massive internal network of entertainment that could be monetized for company profit. The greatest strength for OLE Ent are the relationships spawned amongst each entrepreneur. There’s confidential trust and membership within the company, which is the greatest strength for a growing enterprise.

WEAKNESS

The company is relatively new, meaning the brand is not as strong as most would want it to be.  At the moment, there isn't much funds financing the marketing/production efforts of Old Line Entertainment.  This hinders the productivity and business creation that directors want for the company. Other weaknesses include the scope of connectivity within the company. OLE Ent  is very local, and not as national as it could be. There are little to no connections within the company nor are there any major policies/ procedures established. This will cause a weak network of creativity, productivity, and expansion down the line. As any other new business, there will be a lot of trial - error periods within the business life. The worst weakness is not learning how to grow from the trial- error periods. The development of these major concepts will be the most challenging barrier that OLE Ent will have to face.

OPPORTUNITIES --

The artist included within the OLE Ent productions are very innovative and creative.  Each of the artists have unique flows and style of entertainment.  Rap/hip-hop collective “O.T.M.T.M” along with musical entrepreneurs “Famous Newt” and “Sav Jackson” is the beginning primary opportunity for OLE Ent.  The rap group collective along with the two major entrepreneurs show great potential and growth within the music industry.  With the proper tools and the right motivation, these musical parties  could be very beneficial to OLE Ent. Per reference of the future for the musical industry, there could be potential for OLE Ent to gain additional clients under the company ,which would also show to be as profitable as the current musical parties.  The visual creators under OLE Ent are also another opportunity.   The visual creators would be close colleagues of the marketers under the company. Visual creators would have at least 3-4 years in visual production work. Visual creators of OLE Ent would need to be able to effectively create promotional content that could be monetized on platforms like Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. The visual creators would understand all concepts of visual work and production that members in other sectors don’t.  User interface (UIX)  designers are also an opportunity under the company.  The designers would have years of creative experience as well as technological function experience.  They would have to understand all the concepts and factors that go into mobile development and production. The mobile development members would need a keen sense of eye appealing content when creating and publishing their work through OLE Ent. They would also have to fully understand the monetization process that goes into creating and publishing the mobile apps.   Gathering this team together would be more than enough developmental support for the company. There’s a large demand of entertainment in today's industry.  Markets for visual creation, musical entertainment, and social media apps are increasing at a fast rate.  Millennials are the largest demand group for these types of services as well as the largest generational gap ever recorded in history.  With an increase of technology amongst young/old people,  the services of OLE Ent could show to be very profitable if formulated, implemented, and evaluated correctly.

THREATS

There are many threats that oppose services of OLE Ent.  For example, the lack of funding within the company.  There can't be too many projects pursued without the proper cash flow for financing.  The right amount of funding creates things from visual creation, to musical production, to technological development.  Starting off with a slow cash system will make it hard for OLE Ent to pursue projects, form partnerships, and create lifelong investments for the general public.  Other threats include competitors from other service markets.  Competitors in the  visual works market, musical entertainment market, and social application market might be a hindrance to the projects of OLE Ent.  For example, DMV’s Lean Squad Ent, which produces various forms of visual entertainment and skits on Youtube for profit.  Competitors  could possibly generate a higher level of service than that of OLE Ent.  Some of the competitors might grow to dislike the policies of the company. This could create public confrontation amongst other services, which is bad for publicity. Another threat that OLE Ent faces is corrupt practices within the company.  There could be disfiguration by the internal network of the company and members, which could potentially make OLE Ent susceptible to internal failure. Failure from within the company could create a breakdown of OLE Ent permanently, ruining everything that was built on the initial foundation.  Not only that, the platform being built could be overshadowed by that of other competitors, or tri service industries. Similar to the weaknesses, the most challenging part will be overcoming the trial - error periods of the company’s productions.

Reviews by Pancho @ "Precolonial Black Africa" By Cheikh Anta Diop

Precolonial Black Africa 𓁃𓀠𓀢𓀧 This mid to large size book, originally written in French, gives readers a gateway into what Africa was like before the colonization. "Precolonial Black Africa" gives readers a detailed outlook on what life was like amongst the earliest Africans. The book sheds light on what the early Africans did for a living, how they saw each other, how they handled conflicts, how they conquered other lands, how they practiced religion, and a number of other things.  Throughout the book, Cheikh Anta Diop divides the text into sections that focus on the different angles of political and social systems.   For example, section 2 or II or the book goes into detail on what the socio-political status of Africa was at the time.   Sections later on in the  text talk about the education levels that was present during precolonial black Africa. The text is well rounded overall and makes the reader(me) feel like they're sitting in an exclusive African American H

🎮What Video Games Have to 🎲Teach Us About Learning and Literacy📙 In chapter 7, James Paul Gee discusses how online interactions through video games can help create a learning network for video game players. When video game players are able to communicate with each other worldwide, it causes people to learn new things or solve the trivia of a game as a group. The unified network of gamers can allow those who participate to submit their own ideas on the game. Certain abilities and cheat codes to the game can also be developed as people play within the network. One game that Gee uses to prove this principle is World of Warcraft, an online MMO and RPG game. The game has a huge audience with people from all around the world logging in to play daily. The author was able to experience on hand just how far playing within a network can help gamers progress through these types of games. He states “But video game players can be part of a powerful network if they so desire and know-ho

Reviews by Pancho @ "What Video Games Have to Teach Us About Learning and Literacy" By James Paul Gee. Introduction

🎮What Video Games Have to Teach Us About Learning and Literacy🎮 The introduction of this book shows readers how author James Paul Gee feels about video games and their ability to challenge the human mind. There are many sources of education out in the world that help people enhance their intellect, but most would never think of video games being in that category. From his own experience, Paul started to really experiment with video games after watching his six-year-old son play one. He states “I decided to play through the game by myself so I could “coach” my child as he played. When I played the game I was quite surprised to find out it was fairly long and pretty challenging, even for an adult.”(pg.6) He couldn’t understand why the younger population would continuously put themselves through that much amount of stress, especially if the games were programmed to be longer and harder to solve. This is how he came to the conclusion that video games aren’t just a waste of time, bu
