My Personal Experience As a Bud Tender

Working as a Bud Tender in the corporate cannabis industry was a lot different than I thought it would be.  I wanted to break into the industry as a Cannabis Sales Representative and decided that the best way for me to follow that path would be to work at a Medical Dispensary. I thought that it would be a great learning opportunity and a strong base for me to start with. After working at the dispensary for a month I realized just how stupid occupations like this could be. It was no different than what you'd find at your typical retail center. Cash registers, useless managers, bogus work schedules that weren't even organized, and even lazier coworkers.  Working for the medical cannabis industry was by far one of the dumbest ideas I've had in a long while.  I thought the gig at a hospital was bad, but at least with that job, I didn't have to work on the weekends.  Imagine your weekend starting in the middle of the week; Wednesday and Thursday to be precise. If it pissed m

Symbolic Interaction in Depth

The theory that I will be addressing is Symbolic Interaction. Symbolic int eraction is a theory that states socialization amongs t human life relies on the meanings that people impose towards mate rial things, events, and behaviors ( Thoughtco , 2017). Symbolic interaction allows humans to function in a constructive manner, thus fo rming social bonds. In today’s society, symbolic interaction can be found everywhere. For example, the act of smoking cigarettes at a young age would be a form of symbolic interaction. The majority of companies who manufacture tobacco constantly warn of the dangers and health effects that come with the product. They also tend to emphasize the dangers of this product on individuals of a young age. Regardless of the health risks that it has on this group of individuals, this act can project the image of being cool towards their peers ( Thoughtco , 2017). Because this dangerous behavior appears “cool”, young individuals will be more likely to p

Nike Personified

Th ere are brands advertised to people every day, with more being thought up of every minute. With each brand advertised, there are multiple people who become attached to a certain brand, thus forming a sense of brand loyalty. I’ve come across a lot of brands in my life , tending to direct my loyalty towards a select few. However, there is a dominant brand that I have come to really affiliate myself with, “Nike” . According to the website of Nike, “Nike, Inc. is an American multinational corporation that is engaged in the design, development, manufacturing and worldwide marketing and sales of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories, and services”. With that being said, I feel like if this brand were to ever “ come to life ” , it would be more than just a single person. If the brand “Nike” ever came to life as a person, it would be in the form s of a man, a woman, a boy , and a girl, creating a Ni ke family. I feel that this is the appropriate incarnation to giv e the bra

Nike's Influence on the Conformation of Society

There are many products of today that people tend to buy in order to “conform” themselves with the rest of society. Whether it’s the lower class, middle class, or upper class, there is always one product that strikes the mind of individuals. The product that I decided to focus this study on is NBA Nike brand shoes. Nike brand shoes can apply to all people but are most commonly found amongst the younger crowd of today. The other large competing brand, Air Jordan, resembles the exact same level of demand as Nike. There are multiple reasons why Nike appeals to the younger generation of today. The company is known highly for its inner connection with super sport athletes everywhere. Almost every commercial that Nike airs on television includes a well-known athlete wearing the clothing or shoes. From Basketball and Football to Soccer and Baseball, Nike always finds a way to make a name for themselves in every sport. This would attract people to buy the shoe becau

🎮What Video Games Have to 🎲Teach Us About Learning and Literacy📙 In this chapter, James Paul Gee concludes all the important facts that he explains throughout the book. Video games should not be taken lightly in terms of educating their participants. All games have a deeper meaning than just flashy lights and remarkable graphics used to entertain people. Gee was able to provide multiple examples of how video games help engage people in learning through all types of principles. For example, video games have people learn in a sense of situated meanings, cultural models, and identity principles. Situated me anings help people learn how to respond properly in a certain environment. With this principle, the act of forming strategies comes into effect. The identity principle of video games teaches players how to look at something from a different perspective. In games like Kingdom Hearts, you are able to play multiple characters with different goals. Engaging players in this typ

🎮What Video Games Have to 🎲Teach Us About Learning and Literacy📙 In chapter 7, James Paul Gee discusses how online interactions through video games can help create a learning network for video game players. When video game players are able to communicate with each other worldwide, it causes people to learn new things or solve the trivia of a game as a group. The unified network of gamers can allow those who participate to submit their own ideas on the game. Certain abilities and cheat codes to the game can also be developed as people play within the network. One game that Gee uses to prove this principle is World of Warcraft, an online MMO and RPG game. The game has a huge audience with people from all around the world logging in to play daily. The author was able to experience on hand just how far playing within a network can help gamers progress through these types of games. He states “But video game players can be part of a powerful network if they so desire and know-ho
